A safe is the only piece of equipment we sell where the weakest component is usually a habit. The body is tested, the lock is certified, the anchoring is recorded — and then a code is shared across a shift, or the door is left on the latch during the busy hour, and none of the rest matters.
That is why we treat the handover as training rather than as a signature on a delivery note.
What we go through
The lock, properly. How to set and change a code, how many codes the lock supports, and what happens when someone forgets one. Most call-outs in the first year are lock-management problems, not faults.
Who holds what. Where a lock supports more than one code, splitting them between two people means no single person can open the safe alone. It costs nothing and it removes the most common internal risk. We show how it is configured; the policy is yours to set.
The routine that keeps certification meaningful. Anchoring, closing procedure, and what counts as closed. A safe with the door pushed to but not locked is a cupboard.
What to do when something is wrong. Which noises and behaviours mean call us now, which can wait for the scheduled visit, and the number to ring.
Who should be there
Everyone who will open it, not only the manager who signed the order. If a branch runs three shifts, that means a nominated person from each. We would rather run the session twice than have it relayed second-hand, and we would rather find out on the day that two people are missing than discover it at the first call-out.
Bring whoever handles keys and codes for the building as well. Safe procedure that contradicts the building’s access policy tends to be quietly abandoned.
Afterwards
The installation goes into the service file with the model, the anchoring and the date. When the same unit is serviced in three years — or a colleague rings about a lock nobody can open — that record is what makes the visit quick.
Ask us to run the session again whenever the staff change. Arranging it while the team is new costs a great deal less than an emergency opening does.
